Treatment for dark spots: HALO™ and BBL™
Sometimes you win one battle for perfect skin only to face another when an issue leaves scars behind.
Many people suffer from dark spots on their skin caused by acne, sun damage, injury, illness or even insect bites. Uneven skin tone is one thing, but dark spots are more intense, difficult to cover with cosmetics and may not respond to over-the-counter treatments.
Treatment for dark spots at Blush now includes laser technology that can target small areas of scarred or darker skin without damaging the healthy tissues around the area.
Both HALO™ and BBL™ can improve the appearance of dark spots long-term and give you healthier skin overall.
What Causes Dark Spots?
Halo™ Laser Treatment for Dark Spots
Halo™ is one of the most effective treatments for dark spots. This hybrid fractional laser delivers both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to microscopic areas of the skin. These dual wavelengths allow us to customize treatments for each individual.
Benefits of the Halo™ treatment include:
- Treats pigment issues, wrinkles and pores
- Less painful than traditional laser resurfacing
- Short recovery time
- Results in just one or two treatments
- Long-lasting results
Immediately after your Halo™ treatment, you may have some minor redness that should fade within a day or two. Over the next week, most of Blush patients notice overall improved skin tone as dark spots fade. Patients generally see the final results after six to eight weeks. Additional Halo™ treatments will only boost your results, leaving you with even healthier looking skin.
Return your skin to it’s natural, luminous glow-all with no downtime!
BBL™ Treatment for Dark Spots
BroadBand Light, or BBL™, is another one of our more effective treatments to improve skin issues such as acne, rosacea and sun damage. The advanced dual-lamp technology penetrates to deeper skin layers that cannot be reached by topical products. Targeted cells with darker pigments absorb the heat and are destroyed beneath the skin's surface typically leading to long-term results.
BBL™ uses short bursts of high-intensity light to stimulate new cell and collagen growth. This new tissue growth creates firmer skin with more even skin tone. BBL™ may also improve the appearance of broken capillaries that cause unsightly red spots on the face.
After BBL™ treatment, your skin may be flushed and warm, as if you have a sunburn. This sensation is normal and should clear within a day. Once the treated area has healed, the dark spots or blemishes that have been removed should not reappear.
Most patients return to their normal routine shortly following the treatment. Areas of sun damage, age spots and pigmented scarring usually lighten and disappear about a week after the procedure
A regimen of repeated treatments over a few months will produce optimal results.
Maintaining Your Dark Spot Treatment Results
After your procedure, Dr. Erin Hennessey will recommend a post-treatment plan to maintain your results.
Recommendations generally include:
- Limiting sun exposure.
- Avoiding the sun midday when the sun's rays are most intense, even when it is overcast.
- Using "broad spectrum" sunscreen that offers SPF 30 or higher.
- Wearing protective clothing such as a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and loose, lightweight clothing that covers arms and legs.
- Avoiding tanning, including sunlamps and tanning beds.
BBL™ and Halo™ are both effective treatments for dark spots. Call 419-595-5851 to schedule your consultation with the team at Blush Aesthetics, and we'll assess your skin, discuss your goals and set up a customized treatment plan.
